Some NAPLAN Online questions are delivered by audio, including spelling items in the conventions of language test, so each student needs their own headphones or earphones during testing. NAPLAN 2027 runs from 10 to 22 March for students in Years 3, 5, 7 and 9, and schools can run practice tests in the assessment platform from Term 3, 2026.

Match the plug to your devices. iPad 7th to 9th Gen, MacBooks and many laptops have a 3.5mm headphone jack. iPad 10th and 11th Gen and iPad (A16) don’t have a headphone jack, so choose USB-C headphones, or use 3.5mm headphones with a 3.5mm to USB-C adapter. For desktop computers, a 3.5mm to USB-A adapter works with USB ports.
Wired headphones are the safest choice for testing. They need no pairing or charging, and many schools ask for wired headsets because Bluetooth can be restricted or unreliable during locked down testing. Check your state or territory test administration authority’s advice for your school.
